Does the stainless steel welded pipe have specific temperature requirements during the solution heat
Solution heat treatment involves heating stainless steel to a high temperature and then rapidly cooling it to achieve an oversaturated state of carbon, thereby enhancing its plasticity and toughness. Solution heat treatment is one of the production processes for stainless steel welded pipes. So, what are the temperature requirements for stainless steel welded pipes during the solution heat treatment process?
Solution heat treatment is the most effective softening process for austenitic stainless steel. After the stainless steel pipe undergoes solution heat treatment, it can achieve the best corrosion resistance, lower strength and better plasticity, thus meeting the requirements of various industrial pipelines. The solution treatment temperature for austenitic stainless steel is usually 1050 - 1150°C. If this temperature is not reached, the internal structure will be unstable, carbides will precipitate, resulting in the surface of the pipe not achieving a bright color, and black spots will appear on the pipe surface.
Furthermore, after the stainless steel pipe is heated to 1050 - 1150°C, it should be cooled rapidly to ensure that no austenite is precipitated during the cooling process. On the other hand, after the stainless steel pipe leaves the furnace (leaves the gas protection atmosphere), its temperature should be reduced to the non-oxidation temperature. It can be seen that the cooling temperature is very important, and the temperature range should be strictly controlled.
Therefore, during the entire solid solution heat treatment process, it is necessary to strictly monitor the heating and cooling temperatures of the stainless steel pipe. It is also advisable to protect the stainless steel pipe during this process to prevent oxidation reactions from occurring on the pipe when it comes into contact with water at high temperatures.
