What are the differences between 304 and 202 stainless steel pipes
The main differences between 304 and 202 stainless steel pipes lie in their chemical composition, physical properties, corrosion resistance and application fields. Chemical composition
1. 304 Stainless Steel: Its national standard model is 0Cr18Ni9, containing more than 18% chromium and more than 8% nickel. Its density is 7.93 g/cm³. It is also known as 18/8 stainless steel in the industry.
2. 202 Stainless Steel: Its national standard model is 1Cr18Mn8Ni5N, containing approximately 4% nickel and 8% manganese. It belongs to the nickel-reduced type of stainless steel.
Physical properties
1. Tensile strength: The tensile strength σb (MPa) of 202 stainless steel reaches above 520, while the tensile strength range of 304 stainless steel is between 515 and 1035.
2. Yield Strength: The condition yield strength σ0.2 (in MPa) of 202 stainless steel is above 275, while that of 304 stainless steel reaches above 205.
Corrosion resistance
1. 304 stainless steel: Due to its higher chromium content than 202 stainless steel, it has stronger corrosion resistance.
2. 202 stainless steel: Its corrosion resistance is poorer and it is not as good as 304 stainless steel.
Application fields
1. 202 Stainless Steel Water Pipes: Primarily used in fields such as architectural decoration, municipal engineering, highway guardrails, and hotel facilities.
2. 304 Stainless Steel Water Pipes: More suitable for use in food processing, storage and transportation, as well as for manufacturing household items, automotive parts, etc.
