The standard for 316L stainless steel pipes
The implementation standards for 316L stainless steel pipes mainly include GB/T 14976-2012 "Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes for Fluid Transportation" and GB/T 20878-2007. These standards specify in detail the requirements for the chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, shape, and process performance of 316L stainless steel pipes, ensuring their reliability and durability in various application scenarios.
I. Chemical Composition
The chemical composition requirements for 316L stainless steel pipes are strict and mainly include:
1. Carbon (C) ≤ 0.03% (or ≤ 0.08%, may vary depending on the standard)
2. Silicon (Si) ≤ 1.00%
3. Manganese (Mn) ≤ 2.00%
4. Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035% (or ≤ 0.045%)
5. Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.030%
1) Chromium (Cr) 16.00% - 18.00%
2) Nickel (Ni) 10.00% - 14.00%
3) Molybdenum (Mo) 2.00% - 3.00%
II. Mechanical Properties
The mechanical property indicators of 316L stainless steel pipes are as follows:
1. Tensile strength ≥ 485 MPa (or may vary according to specific standards, such as 480 MPa)
2. Yield strength ≥ 205 MPa (or 170 MPa)
3. Elongation after fracture ≥ 35% (or 30% MIN)
4. Hardness ≤ 229 HB
III. Application Fields
316L stainless steel pipes are widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical engineering, fertilizer production, power, instrumentation, light industry, as well as in construction, food, medicine, and hygiene sectors. Their excellent corrosion resistance makes it possible to use them for a long time in various corrosive media.
