How many grades does stainless steel 304 have
Stainless steel 316 is divided into several grades. Specifically, stainless steel 304 is mainly divided into the following grades:
1. Alloy 304: This is a molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel with high nickel and molybdenum content, providing better overall corrosion resistance than 304, especially in terms of pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. Additionally, Alloy 304 exhibits excellent high-temperature tensile, creep, and stress fracture strength, as well as good formability and weldability.
2. Alloy 304: This is the low-carbon version of 316, non-allergenic, and thus highly suitable for large-scale welding components. The maximum carbon content of 316L stainless steel is 0.03%, and it is suitable for applications where post-welding annealing is not allowed and maximum corrosion resistance is required.
3. Alloy 304: This is also a type of molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel, having similar properties to 304, but may have a specific nitrogen content, which could affect its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
These grades of stainless steel, due to their excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, are widely used in various industrial fields, including food preparation equipment, chemical processing equipment, laboratory workbenches and equipment, rubber, plastic, pulp and paper machinery, pollution control equipment, ship fittings and pump decorations, heat exchangers, pharmaceutical and textile industries, etc.
