What are the differences between standard stainless steel pipes and non-standard stainless steel

There are significant differences between standard steel pipes and non-standard steel pipes in many aspects. Firstly, in terms of definition, standard steel pipes are manufactured in accordance with the unified industry standards and specifications issued by the state, and their outer diameters and wall thicknesses, etc., are within a certain error range. In contrast, non-standard steel pipes are those that either do not meet the production requirements stipulated by national standards or are products or equipment designed and manufactured based on specific purposes.

Secondly, in terms of specifications and materials, standard steel usually follows a 2 and 5 specification progression, such as diameters of 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 28, 30, etc. Non-standard steel may not conform to this specification progression rule. Moreover, if the carbon content or chromium content of a certain material does not meet the requirements of the national standard, then these steel materials can also be regarded as non-standard.

Furthermore, there are differences in price, weight, and size between standard steel pipes and non-standard steel pipes. Generally speaking, the price of standard steel is higher than that of non-standard steel. As for the weight and size, they can be compared by measuring the length, width dimensions, and wall thickness of the pipes.

Finally, it is worth noting that for some special types of stainless steel, there are only national standards but no so-called "non-standard" specifications. For instance, only 304 stainless steel that meets national standards is referred to as "national standard", while those that do not meet national standards or have unique properties are called "non-standard".
