How to carry out daily maintenance for stainless steel pipes
Although stainless steel pipes have excellent corrosion resistance, if they are left unused for a long time, their service life will be shortened. Therefore, it is necessary for us to carry out regular maintenance on the stainless steel pipes.
1. If the stainless steel pipe is used outdoors, prolonged exposure to wind and sun will cause stains on the surface of the pipe. However, soft towels moistened with water can be used to wipe off the water stains and dirt. If they cannot be removed, a little alkaline soap can be applied and then wiped gently with a towel.
2. However, during the cleaning process, steel wire balls or steel wire brushes should not be used to remove the water stains on the surface of the stainless steel pipe. Because this will leave marks on the surface of the pipe and, in this case, it is prone to rust, affecting the service life of the stainless steel pipe.
3. During the production process, there will be lubricating oil and fine steel wires on the surface of the stainless steel welded pipe. It is necessary to wipe them clean to avoid scratches. During placement, it should be placed in a clean and ventilated place.
4. The processing and consumption of the stainless steel pipe should have a dedicated processing workshop (preferably made of wood), to avoid direct contact between austenitic stainless steel and carbon steel processing platforms or strong metal surfaces.
5. There should be a dedicated storage rack, which should be made of wood or have an exterior painted carbon steel frame or be padded with rubber pads to isolate it from other metal materials such as carbon steel. During storage, the storage position should be convenient for lifting and transportation, and should be completely isolated from other storage areas. Protective measures should be taken to avoid liquid contamination, avoid collisions with other components, and prevent rust and damage from iron metals.
6. When hoisting the stainless steel pipe, common lifting tools such as lifting belts and common clamping heads should be used. Steel wire ropes must not be used to avoid scratching the surface. During lifting and placement, impact and collision should be avoided to prevent scratches. If surface scratches, arc marks, and surface cleaning occur during transportation, storage, and processing, they must be completely cleaned. Use an angle grinder to polish, then polish with polishing sheets or metallographic sandpaper.
