There are several types of stainless steel heat exchange tubes. Are their heat exchange principles

The stainless steel heat exchange tubes, as one of the components of the heat exchanger, are placed inside the cylinder and are used for the heat exchange between two media. Their application in our daily life and production is becoming increasingly widespread. But do you know what the heat exchange principle of stainless steel heat exchange tubes is? What are the factors that affect the heat exchange performance of stainless steel heat exchange tubes? Let's take a look together!

There are many types of stainless steel heat exchange tubes available on the market, including stainless steel smooth tubes, stainless steel threaded tubes, stainless steel corrugated tubes, stainless steel inner wave tubes, stainless steel U-shaped tubes, stainless steel coil tubes, and so on. Although there are many types of stainless steel heat exchange tubes, their heat exchange principles are generally similar. The heat exchange work of stainless steel heat exchange tubes actually involves transferring the heat of the medium, and there are three ways of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation. The former (conduction) is where particles with lower energy and particles with higher energy directly contact and collide to transfer energy; the middle one is convection, which refers to the hot and cold parts in gases or liquids, which evenly distribute the temperature through a rotating motion, maintaining a balanced temperature between the two parts; radiation is the direct emission of heat energy from the heat source to the outside.

Although the heat exchange principles of stainless steel heat exchange tubes are similar, in fact, their heat exchange performances are different. Let's take stainless steel corrugated tubes and stainless steel threaded tubes as examples to illustrate this.

The stainless steel threaded pipe is an efficient heat transfer element made of copper or stainless steel. By using the stainless steel threaded pipe, the inner side of the pipe has threaded protrusions, which enhance the turbulence of the fluid inside the pipe, increase the degree of turbulence, reduce the boundary layer, and decrease the thermal resistance. The outer grooves on the pipe make the water in the liquid film gather inward, thinning the liquid film on the protruding part, and causing some heat transfer to change from film condensation to droplet condensation, thereby reducing the thermal resistance. Additionally, the helical flow and secondary flow of water in the threaded pipe prevent it from scaling, so the scale thermal resistance is greatly reduced, and the heat transfer performance is improved. Therefore, the heat transfer performance of the stainless steel threaded pipe is better.

The stainless steel corrugated tube is made by rolling special stainless steel sheets into thin-walled circular tubes of different specifications. Then, it undergoes a special process to expand the corrugations and form a shaped tube. This is a heat exchange tube. When the medium flows inside the tube, it presents either an equal-diameter flow pattern or an arc-shaped flow pattern, causing periodic changes in flow velocity and pressure. The cold and hot fluids undergo intense disturbance, achieving composite enhanced heat exchange. Moreover, its heat exchange performance is quite good.

From the perspective of the heat exchange process between the stainless steel corrugated tube and the stainless steel threaded tube, the factors influencing the heat exchange performance of the stainless steel heat exchange tube mainly lie in the shape (structure) of the stainless steel heat exchange tube. For the stainless steel threaded tube, the total heat transfer coefficient of the stainless steel corrugated tube is somewhat higher and is also more favored.

Alright, the above content covers the heat exchange principle of stainless steel heat exchange tubes as well as the factors that affect the heat exchange performance of stainless steel heat exchange tubes. I hope everyone can understand this. Then, based on the actual situation, choose the appropriate stainless steel heat exchange tubes for use, so as to better exert their expected heat exchange performance.
