How can one distinguish between 201 material and 304 material stainless steel pipes
In the market, both 201 material and 304 material stainless steel pipes are very common materials. However, if we distinguish between the two, which one is better?
I. Material of Stainless Steel
There are various types of stainless steel materials, including 201 material and 304 material. 201 material refers to an alloy steel made of stainless steel that has strong corrosion resistance; while 304 material is a type of alloy steel made of carbon steel or other alloys, which has good wear resistance, high compressive strength, and strong corrosion resistance, among other advantages. Based on the above introduction, it can be concluded that stainless steel pipes have better corrosion resistance and fire resistance compared to stainless steel plates.
II. Differences between 201 Material and 304 Material
The 304 stainless steel tube is a very common alloy. It has excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Compared with the 201 stainless steel, there are many differences between them: Firstly, since these materials are usually made from precious metals, they have better wear resistance; Secondly, although the two materials look very similar in appearance, 304 material is easier to clean. This is because it has a larger surface area and is rougher, allowing the surface deposits of the stainless steel to be easily removed. In conclusion, choosing the stainless steel tube product that suits your personal preference or usage environment is a wise decision.
III. How to Distinguish
1. Different materials. 304 stainless steel is a corrosion-resistant type of stainless steel that can withstand high levels of corrosive substances. While 201 stainless steel is a non-corrosion-resistant type of stainless steel and can only be used at low temperatures.
2. Different colors. 304 stainless steel is black and has poor cold resistance; 201 stainless steel is white and has good cold resistance.
3. Different uses. 304 stainless steel is used for manufacturing various mechanical equipment, metal parts, etc., which require corrosion resistance and wear resistance. 201 stainless steel is mainly used for making food utensils, important components in the pharmaceutical industry such as infusion tubes, etc.
4. Different service life. The service life of 304 stainless steel can reach over 100 years, while that of 201 stainless steel is only 600 months.
5. Price difference. The market price of 304 stainless steel is higher than that of 201 stainless steel.
6. Performance differences. 304 stainless steel has excellent wear and corrosion resistance, high-temperature oxidation resistance, and is not prone to rust; while 201 stainless steel can withstand a certain degree of corrosion, but is not resistant to strong acids, is prone to oil contamination, and can change color easily.
7. Safety differences.
