Specific application cases of non-magnetic stainless steel tubes in medical devices
Non-magnetic stainless steel tubes, due to their advantages such as non-magnetism, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility, are widely used in medical devices. Here are some specific examples:
Cardiac stent: A certain domestic cardiac stent is made by weaving 1Cr18Mn18N fine wire. By taking advantage of the non-magnetic property of this material, it avoids interference with medical equipment near the heart. At the same time, its high strength enables the stent wall thickness to be reduced by 30% while maintaining the same radial support force, resulting in a vascular restenosis rate of less than 5%.
Orthopedic implants: Carpenter Biodur® 108 non-magnetic stainless steel has passed the ISO10993 biocompatibility test and is used to manufacture joint replacement components, spinal implants, bone plates and screws, etc. Its non-magnetic property can avoid interfering with medical examinations and treatment processes, and it can remain stable in the human body environment for a long time and resist corrosion by body fluids.
Medical gas pipeline system: Hospitals require safe and sterile media to transport gases such as oxygen, nitrogen monoxide, and carbon dioxide. The 316L non-magnetic stainless steel pipe, due to its strong corrosion resistance, can prevent the pipeline from being corroded by impurities or disinfectants in the gas, ensuring no leakage or pollution during gas transportation, and maintaining the purity and integrity of medical gases.
MRI equipment accessories: MRI equipment has extremely high requirements for the magnetic environment. Non-magnetic stainless steel tubes can be used to manufacture non-magnetic bolts, guide rails and other accessories for MRI scanners. This can avoid interference with the magnetic field of the equipment, ensure imaging quality, and at the same time be resistant to disinfectant corrosion and suitable for the medical environment.
Dialysis equipment: During the process of hemodialysis, it is necessary to ensure that the blood is filtered and circulated in a pure and uncontaminated environment. The 316L non-magnetic stainless steel tube, due to its smooth surface that is not prone to bacterial growth and good corrosion resistance, can be used to manufacture the internal pipes of the dialysis machine, ensuring the safety of the blood processing process.
Surgical instrument holders: Some surgical instruments use non-magnetic stainless steel tubes as holders, such as some complex endoscope holders, etc. By taking advantage of their non-magnetic property, they can be used in conjunction with MRI and other equipment for real-time imaging during the operation, providing precise guidance for the surgery. At the same time, their high strength and corrosion resistance can ensure that the instruments maintain stable performance after multiple uses and disinfections.
