Why is electro-polishing chosen for stainless steel
So why is electrolytic polishing chosen for stainless steel?
Polishing is divided into manual polishing and electrolytic polishing. The biggest problem with manual polishing is that it requires a large amount of labor, has high labor intensity, and consumes a lot of power and materials. Electrolytic polishing is convenient to operate, has high efficiency, low cost, and can polish to areas that cannot be reached by manual polishing. Therefore, in production, the electrolytic polishing process should be used as much as possible. Electrolytic polishing is the reverse behavior of electroplating. On the surface of the workpiece, it can remove 1-5 layers of material. Electrolytic polishing is carried out under the action of electrolyte and current. The important principle is that the micro peaks are removed preferentially, while the macroscopic contour of the workpiece will not be changed. The surface is directly made bright from the electrolytic cell to reduce or even avoid the heavy workload of manual polishing.
After the workpiece undergoes electrolytic polishing treatment, a passivation layer will form on its surface, improving its corrosion resistance. It effectively removes burrs, enhancing the corrosion resistance and anti-fingerprint properties of the stainless steel, and increasing its brightness. The surface of the stainless steel appears more comfortable and beautiful.
