What is stainless steel seamless square tube
Stainless steel seamless square tubes are made from stainless steel round tube blanks through seamless forming processes such as cold drawing, hot rolling or extrusion, directly processed into hollow tubes with square cross-sections. Their core features are the absence of welded seams, square cross-sections, and full stainless steel material, which distinguishes them from welded square tubes (formed by bending and welding stainless steel plates).
The key attributes and features are as follows:
1. Forming process
The mainstream processes are cold drawing seamless forming and hot rolling extrusion forming:
○ Cold drawing process: The stainless steel round tube blank is stretched through multiple cold drawing dies, gradually shaping the circular cross-section into a square one. The entire process is seamless, with high dimensional accuracy and good surface finish in the finished product, suitable for small-diameter and thin-walled seamless square tubes.
○ Hot rolling extrusion process: The heated and softened stainless steel tube blank is extruded through a dedicated square extrusion die to form a square cross-section in one step. This process is suitable for large-diameter and thick-walled seamless square tubes and can retain good mechanical properties.
2. Core Advantages
- No weld defects: Eliminates issues such as weld cracks, pores, and inclusions found in welded square tubes, ensuring uniform overall structural strength and superior pressure resistance and impact resistance compared to welded square tubes of the same specification.
- Material stability: Commonly made from austenitic stainless steels like 304 and 316L, which offer excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance, making them suitable for harsh working conditions.
- Cross-sectional mechanical properties: The square cross-section has higher bending and torsional stiffness than the circular cross-section, allowing it to withstand greater lateral loads in structural support scenarios.

4. Typical Application Scenarios
It is mainly used in fields with high requirements for structural strength, pressure resistance and corrosion resistance, such as:
- High-pressure fluid conveying pipelines and precision instrument hydraulic system pipelines in the chemical industry;
- Hygienic square conveying pipelines and aseptic filling equipment frames in the food and pharmaceutical industries;
- Structural support components and fluid pipelines in high-end equipment such as aerospace and ships.
