What are the causes of deformation for 304 stainless steel pipes

01 Defects in Raw Materials

The first issue is the material defects of 304 stainless steel welding pipes during production. Many materials will deform after being heated, and some will also deform under high pressure. During the use of this product, it will also deform due to various reasons.

Therefore, when customers purchase this product, they should first understand its product materials. They need to ensure that the materials have sufficient strength, and also check whether they can remain stable under working temperatures, such as 900℃. At this point, 304 cannot be used because it is only suitable for use at 500℃. The tensile strength, hardness, and yield strength of the steel pipe will decrease at this temperature. At this time, materials that can withstand higher temperatures need to be considered.

02 Production Process

There are also some deformations of 304 stainless steel pipes due to the fact that the production process of the factory did not meet the requirements. In the production of this product, both the forming process and its surface treatment process need to meet certain standards. If the factory's process is not in place, naturally, the quality of the product will decline, thereby causing it to deform during use.

03 Aging and Deformation

Of course, different products will have significant differences in the time of deformation. For instance, some products will start to deform shortly after installation, while others will begin to deform after being used for a certain period of time.

Of course, there are also some 304 stainless steel pipes that have deformed due to aging during use. Some of the aging is caused by the inherent shortcomings of the product; some is due to the medium. For example, in a high-pressure environment, a layer of scale will form on the inner wall of the pipe, and the accumulation of this scale will eventually cause the pipe to deform and become unusable.

This, however, requires an improvement in the product's environmental durability and anti-aging properties. But this necessitates a simultaneous enhancement in the materials and manufacturing processes by the producers.

The above are the reasons for the deformation of 304 stainless steel pipes. Through the above introduction, you can understand that the reasons for the deformation of stainless steel pipes include material defects, non-compliance with production processes, and deformation due to aging during use. Therefore, in order to avoid the deformation of 304 stainless steel pipes, the production factory needs to improve the raw materials and production processes. Similarly, choosing a merchant with quality guarantee can completely eliminate the concern about deformation issues.
