What are the differences between 310S and 309S stainless steel
310S, the standard designation is: 0cr25ni20si2. The applicable temperature range is 1000°C to 1200°C.
Model 309S, its standard designation is 0Cr23Ni13. The applicable temperature range is 900 to 1000 degrees Celsius.
310S stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with excellent 310S stainless steel oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. Due to the high percentage of chromium and nickel content, it has good multi-rheological strength and can operate continuously at high temperatures, and has good high-temperature resistance. Because of the high content of (Ni) and chromium (Cr), it has good oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and high-temperature resistance. High-temperature steel pipes are specifically used for manufacturing electric heating furnace tubes and other occasions. After increasing the carbon content in austenitic stainless steel, due to its solid solution strengthening effect, the strength is improved. The chemical composition characteristics of austenitic stainless steel are based on chromium and nickel and add elements such as molybdenum, tungsten, niobium and titanium. Because its structure is a face-centered cubic structure, it has high strength and creep strength at high temperatures.
The corresponding Chinese brand for 309S is 0Cr23Ni13. The American standard S30908 (American AISI, ASTM) features and applications: It has better corrosion resistance and heat resistance than 0Cr19Ni9. 309S is an easily machinable stainless steel containing sulfur (Si), and is used in situations where easy machining and high surface finish are required.
The 309S and 310/310S austenitic stainless steels are often used in operations under high-temperature conditions. Their high chromium and nickel contents ensure excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance. Compared with the austenitic 304 alloy, it has slightly higher strength at room temperature.
The 309S (23Cr-13Ni) stainless steel exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and strength, making it suitable for components operating at a temperature of 1000℃. Due to this high-temperature resistance property, it is also known as high-alloy stainless steel, possessing outstanding high-temperature acid resistance and high-temperature strength. Its applications are generally widely used in exhaust machines, heat treatment furnaces, and heat exchangers, etc.
The 310S stainless steel is suitable for manufacturing various furnace components, with a maximum working temperature of 1200 ℃ and a continuous operating temperature of 1150 ℃. It is a mainstream steel type in the heat-resistant steel series. While the 309S has a maximum working temperature of 1050 ℃ and can be used under a larger load for a long time within the range of 650 - 700 ℃.
310S stainless steel is widely used as the material for stainless steel pipes. It is mainly used as pipelines for transporting fluids, such as oil, natural gas, water, gas, steam, etc. Moreover, when the bending and torsion strength are the same, it has a lighter weight, so it is also widely used in the manufacture of mechanical parts and engineering structures. It is also commonly used in the production of various conventional weapons, gun barrels, and artillery shells.
