What are the characteristics of stainless steel
Stainless steel has a nearly mirror-like luster and a hard, cold touch. It is a relatively avant-garde decorative material with excellent heat resistance, weldability, corrosion resistance, compatibility, and toughness. It is widely used in industries and other fields. Now, I will briefly introduce these characteristics of stainless steel to you.
1. Heat Resistance
The heat resistance of stainless steel mainly refers to the fact that stainless steel can maintain excellent physical and mechanical properties at high temperatures. Carbon in austenitic stainless steel strongly forms and remains stable. Carbon is an interstitial element that can significantly enhance the strength of austenitic stainless steel through solid solution strengthening. Carbon can also improve the stress corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel in high chloride environments. Therefore, using carbon as a raw material for stainless steel pipes can enhance the heat resistance of stainless steel.
II. Corrosion Resistance
When the atomic content of chromium in steel is not less than 12.5%, it can cause a sudden change in the electrode potential of the steel, rising from a negative potential to a positive one. This prevents electrochemical corrosion.
III. Weldability
The welding performance requirements vary depending on the application of stainless steel products. For products like tableware, there are no specific welding performance requirements. However, for most products, such as thermos cups, steel pipes, and water heaters (which belong to the second category), it is necessary to use raw materials with good welding performance.
IV. Polishing Performance
In the production process of stainless steel products nowadays, the polishing process is always included. Therefore, it is required that the raw materials used should have good polishing performance. The factors affecting the polishing performance mainly include two aspects. One is the presence of defects on the surface of the raw material; the other is the material property of the raw material. If the hardness is too low, the polishing performance will be poor. At the same time, during the stretching process, the surface is prone to develop an orange peel phenomenon, thereby affecting the BQ property. However, for products that have undergone deep stretching, small black dots may appear on the surface in the areas with extremely large deformation.
It is mainly used in the production of a variety of food and other consumable items. In simple terms, it is a type of steel pipe used in food production. This sanitary-grade stainless steel pipe is mainly used in the production equipment or production lines for some food products, as well as in beverages, alcoholic beverages, and biotechnology, etc. For dry food items, its safety standards are very strict.
