The corrosion resistance of thin-walled stainless steel pipes is relatively poor, and they are mainly suitable for the transmission of fluids with general properties, such as water and air. While thick-walled stainless steel pipes have stronger corrosion resistance and can be used for the transmission of some highly corrosive fluids, such as chemical wastewater, petroleum, and natural gas.

3. Mechanical Performance Requirements

The mechanical performance of thin-walled stainless steel pipes is relatively poor, and they are more suitable for flexible pipeline systems and interior decoration fields. Thick-walled stainless steel pipes have a larger wall thickness, so their strength and rigidity are relatively higher. Therefore, in scenarios that require bearing large mechanical loads, such as bridge structures and mechanical equipment fields, thick-walled stainless steel pipes are generally used.

4. Cost Considerations of Application

Thin-walled stainless steel pipes use less raw materials and have a lower production cost, making them more economically affordable and suitable for some occasions with limited budgets. While thick-walled stainless steel pipes have a higher production cost, but they have higher pressure-bearing capacity and corrosion resistance, and can play a role of advantage in some special scenarios, such as aerospace and nuclear power plants.

Energy Sector: Thick-walled stainless steel tubes are used in the energy sector, such as nuclear power plants and thermal power plants, for transporting high-temperature and high-pressure fluid media.

Automobile Manufacturing: Thick-walled stainless steel tubes are used in the automotive industry for manufacturing exhaust pipes, intake pipes, etc., with features of high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.
