Let's take a look at "These several methods for removing rust from the surface of stainless steel pi

1. Cleaning

Using an emulsion to clean the surface of the stainless steel pipe can remove grease, dust, lubricants and similar organic substances, but it cannot remove rust and oxide scales on the steel surface. Therefore, it can only be used as an auxiliary measure for anti-corrosion production.

2. Rust Removal with Tools

Use tools such as wire brushes to sand the surface of the stainless steel pipe, removing loose or warped oxide scales, rust, etc. The rust removal using manual tools should reach the SA2 standard, and that with electric tools should reach the SA3 standard. However, if there is a firmly adhered oxide scale on the concrete surface of the stainless steel pipe, the research on the rust removal effect by tools does not necessarily need to be ideal.

3. Acid washing

Generally, acid washing is carried out using chemical methods and electrolysis. For pipeline corrosion protection, only chemical acid washing is employed, which can remove oxide scales, rust, and old coatings. Sometimes it is used as a post-treatment after sandblasting. Although chemical cleaning can make the surface clean and rough, its anchoring lines are relatively shallow and it is prone to pollute the environment.

4. Shot blasting rust removal

Shot blasting rust removal is a process that utilizes a high-power motor driven by the rapid rotation of shot blasting blades. This causes steel sand, steel balls, wire profiles, minerals, and other abrasive materials to be ejected from the surface of the steel pipe under centrifugal force. It not only removes rust, oxides, and dirt but also enables the steel pipe to achieve the required uniform roughness through the intense impact of the abrasive materials and friction. After shot blasting rust removal, it can not only enhance the physical and chemical adsorption of the pipe surface but also significantly increase the mechanical adhesion between the anti-corrosion layer and the surface of the pipe material. Therefore, shot blasting rust removal is a method that can be used for treating the outer surface of stainless steel pipes and for rust removal and anti-corrosion work of pipes and pipelines.
