What are the advantages and disadvantages of the chemical degreasing method
Chemical degreasing method is one of the commonly used treatment methods for degreasing stainless steel pipes. Its advantages and disadvantages are as follows:
Advantages
High applicability: It can handle various types of oil stains, whether they are animal or plant oils or mineral oils, and can effectively remove them by choosing the appropriate degreasing agent. For stainless steel welded pipes of different shapes, structures and materials, the chemical degreasing method is applicable, including some complex-shaped pipe fittings, which can be degreased by soaking or wiping methods.
Low cost: The cost of chemical degreasing agents is relatively low, and no special equipment is required. Only simple equipment such as degreasing tanks and stirring devices need to be equipped to carry out degreasing operations. Compared with electrochemical degreasing methods and other degreasing methods, the chemical degreasing method has certain advantages in terms of equipment investment and operating costs, and is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises to adopt.
Simple operation: The operation process of the chemical degreasing method is relatively simple, and no professional technicians are required for operation. Operators only need to prepare the degreasing agent according to the specified formula, place the stainless steel welded pipes in the degreasing agent for soaking, spraying or wiping treatment, and then clean to complete the degreasing process. The skill requirements for operators are relatively low, and it is easy to master and promote.
Disadvantages
Low degreasing efficiency: Compared with electro-degreasing methods and other techniques, the degreasing speed of chemical degreasing methods is slower. Especially for stainless steel pipes with heavy oil stains, it may require a longer soaking time or multiple treatments to achieve satisfactory degreasing results. In large-scale production, it may affect production efficiency.
Some pollution to the environment: The degreasing agents used in the chemical degreasing process mostly contain alkaline substances and some additives. These substances may cause certain environmental pollution after being discharged. If not handled properly, it may lead to problems such as eutrophication of water bodies and alkalization of soil. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct specialized treatment of the wastewater after degreasing to meet environmental protection discharge standards, which increases the environmental protection costs and management difficulties of enterprises.
Some corrosiveness to metals: Although the degreasing agents usually contain corrosion inhibitors, in some cases, chemical degreasing agents may still have a certain corrosive effect on the surface of stainless steel pipes, especially when the concentration of the degreasing agent is too high, the treatment time is too long, or the temperature is too high. This may affect the surface quality and corrosion resistance of the stainless steel pipes, reducing their service life.
