How is the corrosion resistance of 2507 duplex steel
2507 duplex steel is a high-alloy super duplex steel. How is its corrosion resistance? Let's take a look together.
Compared with 904L stainless steel seamless pipes, 2507 duplex steel has a stronger resistance to corrosion in diluted sulfuric acid containing chloride ions. 904L is an alloy in the austenitic state and is specifically used for resisting corrosion by pure sulfuric acid. The higher chromium and molybdenum content in 2507 duplex steel enables it to have a stronger overall corrosion resistance to organic acids such as formic acid and acetic acid. 2507 duplex steel also has a strong resistance to corrosion by inorganic acids, especially those containing chloride ions. The 316L grade cannot be used in an environment of hydrochloric acid as it may suffer from local corrosion or overall corrosion. 2507 duplex steel can be used in diluted hydrochloric acid environments and has strong resistance to pitting and crack corrosion.
2. Intergranular Corrosion: The relatively low carbon content of 2507 duplex steel significantly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation in the intergrains during heat treatment. Therefore, this alloy has a strong ability to resist intergranular corrosion related to carbides.
3. Stress corrosion cracking: Due to its high alloy content, the corrosion resistance and strength of 2507 duplex steel are superior to those of 2205. The duplex structure of 2507 duplex steel endows it with a strong ability to resist stress corrosion cracking.
4. Corrosion and erosion: There are various methods for testing the anti-corrosion and erosion resistance of steel products in solutions containing chloride. The critical temperature for the erosion of high-performance stainless steel in a 1M sodium chloride solution is specified. Various experimental results have demonstrated that 2507 duplex steel has outstanding anti-corrosion and erosion resistance capabilities.
5. Cracking Corrosion: Cracks are almost inevitable in construction and other fields, which makes stainless steel more susceptible to corrosion in chloride environments. 2507 duplex steel has a strong ability to resist cracking corrosion.
