Must food-grade stainless steel pipes be polished pipes
The reason why food-grade stainless steel pipes are polished pipes is as follows:
According to the GB 4806.9-2016 standard, there is no requirement that they must be polished pipes. However, in terms of sensory requirements, specific instructions are given for the surface: the surface in contact with food should be clean, the coating should not crack or peel off, the welding part should be smooth without air holes or cracks, and there should be no burrs.
Refer to another standard: GB/T 12771-2008, the standard for fluid conveying stainless steel welded pipes, specifies the surface quality requirements: the inner and outer surfaces of the pipes should be smooth, and no cracks, fissures, folds, heavy coatings, twisting, excessive acid washing, residual iron oxide scale, or other defects that hinder use are allowed. From the above interpretation, it is not clearly stated that they must use polished pipes.
Although from the two key food-grade stainless steel pipe standards, there is no requirement that they must be polished pipes, the standards do clearly specify the surface requirements. In this way, the importance of the material can be imagined. Some large factories' materials actually meet the above requirements and standards upon leaving the factory, so they do not need to be polished separately, so they are not called polished pipes. However, some raw materials did not meet the above requirements, and therefore, they must be combined with multiple processes such as polishing to meet the above standard requirements.
So in conclusion, food-grade stainless steel pipes are not necessarily polished pipes, but the selection of materials must meet the above requirements. Otherwise, polishing and other grinding effects are still needed to meet the required standard requirements.
