How to deal with the blackening on the surface of the stainless steel polished pipe

Generally speaking, a good stainless steel polished pipe product will not have this kind of situation. If the surface of the pipe turns black after long-term use, it is because the stainless steel polished pipe forms an oxide film under the action of air. This oxide film serves to prevent the metal inside the pipe from being further oxidized. This oxide film does not need to be specially wiped off and does not cause damage to the pipe. Different types of stainless steel polished pipes have some differences in element content, so the color of the oxide film produced will also be different. However, none of them have any impact on the pipe. If you think it is not very beautiful, you can do some polishing treatment.

If the surface of the stainless steel polished pipe turns black after welding, it is because the purity of the welding gas is insufficient or due to high-temperature oxidation, etc. The following three methods will teach you how to prevent such situations from occurring.

When welding the stainless steel polished tubes, the purity of the argon gas used was increased to pure argon. From the outside surface of the tube alone, it can be seen that the weld with pure argon is significantly brighter than that with ordinary argon.

2. The backside of the argon gas needs to be properly protected. For the important stainless steel polished tubes, protection should be provided on the backside after welding. Otherwise, high-temperature oxidation will cause the oxidized weld layer on the backside to develop defects. Polishing the backside welds is similar to grinding the slag. Therefore, proper protection can effectively prevent backside oxidation.

3. On the back side, you can apply a protective agent to prevent corrosion. This is a method that eliminates the need for argon gas protection. Just apply a layer about 1 millimeter thick. Then, when welding on the front side, a thin film will form on the back side, providing a protective layer.

If the weld marks on the stainless steel polished pipe have turned black, you can use an acid wash passivation paste for cleaning. Just use the acid to corrode off the black oxide layer on the surface, then rinse it clean with water. That's it.
