What are the differences between stainless steel pipe polishing, sandblasting and sanding

The following explains the differences between the processes of wire polishing, sandblasting and sandblasting for stainless steel pipes:

1. Sandblasting: This is actually the original color of the stainless steel. The surface has no graininess. The characteristic is that as the usage time increases, it will have more patina and become brighter.

2. Wire polishing: It is a surface texture formed by sanding with a sand wheel. The graininess is heavier. The advantage is that it increases friction and is helpful for the use of various kitchen equipment.

3. Sandblasting: The surface texture of the stainless steel pipe made for sandblasting is a surface texture produced by an electrochemical method. The graininess between sandblasting and wire polishing is in between. Through electrochemical treatment, it can prevent oil stains, that is, such a surface is easier to wipe off oil stains. It is the most simple and convenient method for us to use.

The surface rust removal methods for stainless steel pipes are as follows:

1. Cleaning

Using emulsion to clean the surface of the stainless steel pipe can remove grease, dust, lubricants and similar organic substances, but it cannot remove rust and oxide scale on the steel surface. Therefore, it can only be used as an auxiliary means for anti-corrosion production.

2. Tool rust removal

Using steel wire brushes and other tools to sand the surface of the stainless steel pipe to remove loose or warped oxide scale, rust, etc. Manual tool rust removal reaches SA2 level, and electric tool rust removal reaches SA3 level. However, if the concrete surface of the stainless steel pipe has firmly adhered iron oxide scale, the rust removal effect of the tool is not necessarily ideal.

3. Acid washing

Generally, acid washing treatment is carried out by chemical methods and electrolytic methods. For pipeline anti-corrosion, only chemical acid washing is used to remove oxide scale, rust and old coatings. Sometimes it is used for post-treatment after sandblasting. Although chemical cleaning can make the surface clean and rough, its anchoring lines are shallow and are prone to environmental pollution.

4. Shot blasting rust removal

Shot blasting rust removal is a large-power motor. It is driven by the high-speed rotation of the shot blasting blades to make steel sand, steel balls, iron wire profiles, minerals and other abrasives spray out of the surface of the steel pipe. It can not only remove rust, oxide and dirt, but also make the steel pipe reach the required uniform roughness under the intense impact of abrasives and friction. After shot blasting rust removal, it can not only achieve physical and chemical adsorption on the surface of the pipe through expansion, but also enhance the mechanical adhesion force between the anti-corrosion layer and the surface of the pipe material. Therefore, shot blasting rust removal is a rust removal method that can be used for processing and anti-corrosion of the outer surface of stainless steel pipes and pipelines.

Generally, whether it is wire-polished stainless steel pipes or sandblasted stainless steel pipes, the matte effect of the surface will be processed according to the specific requirements of the customer. If the quantity is small and the pipe factory cannot produce in batches, additional processing costs need to be added. It is recommended that we choose sandblasting or wire polishing process when purchasing based on the specific use or customer requirements.
